The Millennium story starts with the Wheaton family. In 1961, Donald H. Wheaton took the helm of a leading Edmonton GM dealership, not realizing that it was the beginning of a family business that has since grown to more than 15 car dealerships across Western Canada, along with ventures in banking, insurance, and aviation.
In 1998, that entrepreneurial spirit led to formation of Millennium Insurance Corporation. We began by protecting the vehicles our dealerships sold, then expanded: personal home and auto insurance in 2001, and commercial lines in 2010.
Today, we insure our clients with the same values we started with: treat people fairly, keep it simple, and be there when it counts.
A Legacy Begins
Donald H. Wheaton takes over a leading Edmonton GM dealership, launching the Wheaton family legacy.
1961
Entering the P&C Insurance Industry
Millennium Insurance Corporation is incorporated in Sherwood Park, Alberta and begins underwriting automotive extended warranties.
1998
Making it Personal
We begin writing personal auto and property insurance in Alberta.
2001
A New Commercial Focus
Our commercial Property & Casualty division launches.
2010
Going National
Our focus shifts from being a Western Canadian insurer to a national one.
